This blue and white Shibori stitched lampshade is a one-off design recently launched at MADE London by Romor Designs. It is handmade using pure white Irish linen sourced from independent fabric shops in London that has been stitched using a twist on the traditional technique of ori nui and then dyed using Mayan indigo.

As with all my handmade fabrics, this is a one of a kind piece, no-one else will have one that is exactly the same. * Please note: Due to the handmade nature of this item the exact pattern and colour you receive will be similar to but not exactly the same as the one you see featured. The pattern is achieved by careful use of ori nui stitches in different sizes made across a fold in the fabric with intersecting curved lines of running stitch to create the crossover lines.

The “Spine” lampshade has been inspired by the bones of the spine as realised in stitch using a twist on the traditional shibori stitch of ori nui.

Perfect in the lounge, bedroom or anywhere else you need a beautiful handmade lamp to illuminate your home. Shibori is a slow craft and all my pieces require a number of processes such as stitching, binding or clamping, as well as dyeing using indigo and other natural dyes before being assembled into a lovely lampshade.

Each shade is carefully handmade, using professional materials that have been specially manufactured for lampshades and has had many treatments. * Fire resistant * Safety tested * Anti-Static * Anti-Yellowing. The frame is made from top quality heavy gauge wire. SAFETY The lampshade panel been tested in the Lighting Association Laboratories and has passed the glow wire test which is The British Standard for Luminaries. The fabrics used become fire resistant upon adhesion to the panels. The lampshade will fit the standard bayonet cap (BC) lamp holder for a lamp base or ceiling pendant. This is the most common type of lamp fitting in the UK today. It can also be used with Edison Screw (E27) lamp holders, most common in Europe. The use of low energy bulbs is recommended. They use less energy and are cool to the touch, avoiding the problem of scorching shades and ceilings.
