Ursula’s block print design is inspired by the designs Charles Rennie Mackintosh worked on for 78 Derngate, Northampton. The bird in the top corner is from the weathervane on Glasgow School of Art.
Edinburgh-based Ursula Hunter of Little Axe specialises in block printmaking, and places particular emphasis on nature and wildlife in her designs. Her Scottish surroundings also feature heavily in her work with series reflecting the endangered flora and fauna of the country.
Having worked out her design, Ursula transfers it to a wood block and cuts into the wood to bring out the design.
Once the full design has been realised on the block, she inks it up for printing on fabrics and wallpapers.
Designed exclusively for Craft Design House’s Reflecting Mackintosh Collection.
